I grew up in Herat City, Afghanistan
I currently live in
Herat City, Afghanistan
I was raised in Persian. (languages)
I read and write in English, Persian, German. (languages)
I write Fiction, Novels, Short_stories, Diary, Essays, Other. (genres)
I write for
friends, private.
Reason why I write: I write to express my feelings, share my experiences as an Afghan living through difficult times, preserve memories, find hope amid challenges, connect with others who understand struggle and resilience, and perhaps inspire change or understanding about life in Afghanistan.
My favourite subject(s) to write about include Life in Afghanistan, especially Herat, Struggles under hardship and patriarchy, Hope and resilience.
The most difficult part I find about writing is Finding quiet time and safety to write freely, dealing with emotions that surface when writing about painful experiences, or expressing complex feelings in multiple languages accurately.
Most rewarding moment as a writer for me is The moment I shared a piece and received kind feedback from other writers.
Bio:
My name is Mohammad Shafih Akbari. I grew up and still live in Herat City, Afghanistan. I speak Persian as my first language and also read/write in English and German. Writing is my way to capture thoughts, emotions, and stories from my life and surroundings. I enjoy poetry, short stories, and reflections on family, resilience, and the challenges we face. I read widely on The GOAT PoL and find inspiration in stories of hope amid hardship. I write for myself, my friends, and anyone who might connect with my words. I hope to keep growing as a writer and share more about life in Afghanistan.
