All By Myself

By Molayi Selanga

I don’t want to let go,
because I’m no longer scared.
I’m a cat, and I’ll use all the nine lives I got.

I can’t give up –
at least not now
when I’m feeling so low
and burning so slow.

Smoke pulls me into a world of my own,
where everything I feel
has been broken from my soul.
Where everything distracts me from the fact
that I’m on the run,
from all the monsters
I’ve become.

I’m all by myself,
and the world watches me

Now life is a hell.
But it’s different when I dream,

Like my dreams –
my nightmares,
and I don’t blame anyone
but myself.
