Swamp Sticky

What-cha Reckon?

Drankin’ beer, singin’ and kickin’ sawdust offa the floor,
Bout sun-up they kicked our asses out the swangin’ doors!

———-+-++++++——CHORUS————-+++++++——_
HELL YEAH WHAT-CHA RECKON
I CHOKED OUT AS I ’BOUT SWALLERED THAT DIP IN MY LIP,
WHEN SHE JUMPED IN AND SLAMMED THE DOOR,
SMILED AND ASKED IF I LIKED THE MOONLIGHT AND TO SKINNY DIP

HELL YEAH WHAT-CHA RECKON,
THAT WAS A HELL-UVA NITE WE HAD IN THE SWAMP,
DRANKIN’, SWIMMIN’, AND KISSIN’, AND DOIN’ A SOUTHERN STOMP
HELL YEAH WHAT-CHA RECKON!

Stopped at the store to get some gas
Figured I may as well grab some smokes,
That’s where I met this smokin’ gal,
She was wearin’ daisy dukes and we left fast!

———-+-++++++——CHORUS————-+++++++——_

Bout breakfast time she went off to sleep,
I looked down and saw her smilin’ and felt her snugglin’ next to me,
Hell, I got up and got my ol’ guitar,
Smoked a joint pickin’ a tune, then I drunk some more!!!!

———-+-++++++——CHORUS————-+++++++——_

How Does a Dream Grow Inside

Out yonder after midnight,
Lost floatin’ outta sight,

A love is twisted into a dream,
To languish in the twilight

The mornin’ dew it fades away,
When the sun breaks in to warm the day,

To wash away the screams at last,
From withered dreams that don’t relapse

How does a dream grow inside
The maddened soul or on the page,

Cumbered by the unlit light,
And no whispers from the sage?

Anchored

Unanchored on a never-endin’ road,
Adrift in the shadowed nights
With a pawnshop guitar across my shoulder,
Swallowed up in the neon lights…

Haunted by the teardrops
I see rollin’ off her chin,
Wonderin’ why the hell I can’t stay home
Away from this life of whisky and sin…

I lost that precious thang that bound me
To Her Love, Her light, Her Whims,
Wishin’ I could reset time,
And find Her love again

In every dream I still feel,
Her soft raven hair against my cheek,
That longin’ that keeps me anchored,
To the Home I desperately seek…

Grab a Beer

This life we live is real,
It ain’t no fairy tale,
Clouds appear quick and dark,
The winds rip and howl at a fearsome gale…

Sitting’ in a crowded room,
No one knows ya name,
Everyone tries to hide,
To be different and the same….

The smile I wear,
Don’t hide or share,
The rage of circumstance,
Of a past of death and shame,
No one but me to blame…

Don’t pity me for decisions made,
Recompense is done, it’s paid,
Grab a beer, shoot a deer,
And leave that shit in the shade.

Just Like Me

Gotta song I wrote for momma,
Propped up behind an ol’ ashtray,
Pluckin’ on this ol’ second-hand guitar,
Prayin’ for a better way.

I tote alotta scars on the inside
And I got a few that ya can see,
My long hair hangs down my redneck,
My tattoos tell who I used to be.

I wear an ol’ faded Ole Miss cap,
And an ol’ wore out pair of boots,
I tell the story of a wasted life,
In this house of ill reputes.

Writin’ words as a way out,
Tryin’ to be free
From all the madness of the sinners
Hell, they’re all just like me.
