People caged inside solitary confinement wrote letters to share their experiences. Allies and advocates in Michigan, including AFSC Michigan Criminal Justice Program, collected them. Artists interpreted them. Designers and coders organized & filtered them. Zealous pulled the pieces together and imagined the project’s architecture. Art for Justice helped make Silenced possible. The result: This first-of-its kind interactive digital archive of first-hand accounts from the torture of solitary confinement.
