I am trying to be the person you always wanted me to be.
Unlikely, you never waited to witness it all.
You never reaped what you sowed.
I walk alone through hurricanes and whirlpools but to whom will I cry for help?
To whom will I lay my head and hear “I’m proud of you, my son”?
To whom should I tell my problems and not get judged?
I find no recourse anywhere.
My life is bitter.
You were the only one who loved me regardless.
You loved without reasons and cared limitlessly.
You never priced your heartfelt investment in me.
And neither did you fear anything while raising me, your beloved son.
Without you, Mama, I am learning it the hard way here!
My heart is full of ulcers.
I have learned to aim for excellence not through favor but through merit.
And that on its own is a path full of thorns and potholes.
I am facing a million bunch of injustices down here, Ma.
Without you, I live on the shores, under bridges and in the streets.
I truly miss your cozy bed and soft cuddles.
But Ma, I am growing.
I am becoming the boy you built me to.
I miss the last moment I spent with you.
It vividly finds its way back to me in every walk I make, places I visit and dreams I have every single night.
I would like to relive this everlasting memory with none other than you.
Mom, you’re an irreplaceable blessing and no one can take your place in my life.
Mom, indeed life breaks the bonds that exist and distance loved ones forever.
But still, I wish everyone could learn to value the presence of mothers like you.
For Mom, this unfair life without the likes of you is so hard to thrive through.
Nights and days pass, months and years unwrap.
Still, the hope to see you again keeps on increasing.
I miss you, Mom.
